Properties : It works as a digestive and anti-inflammatory agent but is best known as a very safe and gentle laxative. The root is used in the treatment of various skin diseases and the leaves are used in ointments. The strongly-scented seed pulp is added to tobacco in India and smoked. Cassia fistula is widely used in Ayurveda and is aptly called ‘Aragvadha’ or disease killer. Pulp from the fruit is considered to have the greatest medicinal value.
